Ben Rilot Associates was formed in 2003 and was the result of Ben’s lifelong dream to create an architectural design consultancy dedicated to a unique and timeless architecture. Initially working on domestic houses, Ben’s reputation quickly spread and the burgeoning workload soon led to the practice taking on Interior Architect, Melissa Hopkins, as well as a small team of other architects and technicians who shared the same vision. Works carried out during this period included one-off houses, mixed-use (retail and apartments) and industrial/commercial developments with budgets ranging from the very modest... to the not so modest!
Now husband and wife, Ben & Melissa work together on select projects and are responsible for Project Design, consultation with the relevant Planning Authorities and other Consultants, compilation of Planning Applications, creation of detailed Tender and Construction Drawings and Documents, as well as Supervision of the entire Tender and Construction Process. It is worth noting, however, that, although Ben has 16 years experience carrying out the various roles of an architect, he is, nonetheless, self-taught and, as such, has no formal architectural qualification. Therefore, we typically work with the Project Engineer to assess and Certify Compliance with all Building and Planning Regulations.
Melissa graduated from Sligo Institute of Technology in 2003 with a Bachelor Degree in Design and Interior Architecture. Having previously worked with a firm of structural engineers Melissa brings a wide-range of experience in Structural, Construction and Services details, as well as her Architectural and Interior Design training.
